THE SMOKEY MOUNTAINS
Where are we this week:
We came to the Smokey Mountain National Park this week to see bears and the leaves change, and so did everybody else on the planet. There is a reason this is peak week in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, the colors and the views rival some of the best in the country. It was difficult finding a spot for the RV (the kids have named it the Kitten Bus), but we were able to get one for two weeks right off the strip in Pigeon Forge.
Training on the road is awesome, always something new to explore. This place has not disappointed. We have pushed the double stroller through the crowds on the strip for a quick 6 miler, we have hiked to the highest point in the Smokeys (clingmans dome), and we have run barefoot in the park because I forgot my running shoes. I haven't been on the bike yet, but will try to ride some before we leave. Plenty of hills, and hills and more hills to ride or hike or run.
After Pigeon Forge we will head towards Franklin, Tn., maybe stay at a Harvest Host halfway Friday night and then head to Uncle Scott Birds to trick or treat Saturday night. After Halloween we will head about an hour south to stay on the Natchez Trace for a bit.
